Living mulches as a feasible soil management practice of organic orchards promoting biodiversity and soil microbiome

On Sept 15, Prof. Eligio Malusa underlined how the soil management with living mulches in organic apple orchards can have an impact on soil biodiversity, including the microbiome, during a seminar organized by the MICROBIOME AGRO LIVING LAB initiative.

The presentation entitled “Strategies for the management of organic horticultural crops” was followed by a discussion involving both researchers and representatives of manufacturers, which focussed on the interaction of soil management practices with the soil web of life, as highlighted by the results of the impact of living mulches on nematodes and soil microorganisms.
