Inaugurating seminar of the DOMINO project in Poland

On October 26, 2018 at the headquarter of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Warsaw, was held the inaugural seminar of the project "Dynamic soil mulching and the use of recycled soil improvers to increase biodiversity, resistance and sustainable development of intense ecological orchards and vineyards" - DOMINO .

The project supports the organic farming sector and it is implemented by the Institute of Horticulture in cooperation with twelve partners from Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland and Bulgaria (scientific units, producer associations and consulting companies).

The meeting was opened by prof. dr hab. Małgorzata Korbin - director of the Institute of Horticulture together with M.Sc. Michał Rzytki - director of the Department of Food Quality and Promotion of the Ministry. Dr hab. Eligio Malusá, prof. IO and dr Małgorzata Tartanus - the main project implementers - presented the concept and main assumptions of the project as well as the planned activities. Dr Krzysztof Zmarlicki discussed the economic aspects of organic apple production in Poland and around the world. More than 70 persons, representatives of certification bodies, associations of organic food producers, Agricultural Advisory Centers and industry manufacturers, participated in the meeting and the lively discussion that followed the presentations, pointing out the interest in the subject the project is developing. Beside the spread of the information about the project, also supported by several news appeared in specialized websites on the base of a press release issued by the project, the major outcome of the seminar was the interest from growers belonging to a newly registered National Association of Organic Fruit Producers (Polski Eko Owoc) in collaborating with the project activities.
