DOMINO is among practitioners also from other EU countries

On April 20, 2021, the experiences and results gained within the project dealing with the use of alternative, novel organic fertilizers and the use of living mulches for the management of the tree rows were presented by Eligio Malusà at the XII Jornada de fructicultura ecològica (XII Day of Organic Fruit Production) organized by the Departament d’Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca i Alimentació (Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishery and Nutrition) of Catalonia in collaboration with the Research Institute of Agri-Food Technology (IRTA). The online seminar was followed by about 90 Catalan farmers and advisors involved in organic fruit production. The use of specific herbs for the management of the orchard attracted the attention of the audience, prompting several technical questions about, e.g. the species used, the possibilities to extend the practice to other fruit crops and climatic conditions. The presentation was found also interesting by the IRTA researchers, with whom Prof. Malusà has later had an exchange of opinions, also on their experience about the application of flower strips in orchards.
