DOMINO approach to a resilient horticulture presented at a webinar dedicated to the Earth Day 2020

The work performed in DOMINO related to the innovative management of the soil orchard served as a case study showing how agronomical practices can support the effort for an environmental friendly production of fruits during an international webinar organized by the ECO Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ECO-IEST) and the International Entrepreneurship House on 21-23 April 2020.

The webinar marked the 50th anniversary of the Earth Day and during three sessions, issues such as effects of climatic changes, global warming and nature conservation policies were presented and discussed. The webinar was chaired by Dr. Asghar Mohammadi Fazel, president of the ECO-IEST and attended by world's renowned scientists and environmentalist from 12 different countries and also representatives from the UNEP and ECO secretariat. Prof. Eligio Malusa from the Research Institute of Horticulture (Poland) addressed the issue of "Climate change and Crops protection", presenting how the changes in the climatic conditions are affecting the behaviour of both beneficial and damaging pests. Prof. Malusa underlined the domino concept at the basis of the project particularly with regard to benefits for the biodiversity derived from the introduction of living mulches in the orchards, linking them to a technical and economical feasibility. The file with the presentation is available at this link and the oral explanation of the slides can be listened from this link (https://www.aparat.com/v/4e26d?playlist=368352 starting at min 59).
